Choosing The Right Fabric Cutting Machine For Your Shop

Fabric cutting machines are an essential piece of equipment for any fabric shop, and there are a variety of different types available to suit different needs. Here is a brief overview of the most common types of apparel fabrics cutting appliance:

Rotary Cutters: Rotary cutters use a blade that moves around a circumference and cuts the fabric. They are often used for fabrics with stretch or drape, as they can smoothly cut through the fabric without causing lumps or puckering.

Cutterheads: Cutterheads use a motor to move a heated blade along the edge of the fabric. They are good for fabrics with less stretch or drape, as they can easily cut through them without distortion.

There are many different types of fabric cutting machines available on the market, so it is important to choose one that will fit your needs and preferences.

Here are some factors to consider when choosing a fabric cutting machine:

1. Cutting Width: The widest variety of fabrics that can be cut with a machine fall within 1-1/4 inches wide. However, there are machines available that can handle wider fabrics up to 2-inch wide. If you frequently work with fabrics wider than 1-1/4 inches, it's worth investing in a machine that can handle those types of materials.

2. Cutting Depth: Fabric cutting machines come in three depths – standard, deep and super deep. Standard depth machines are good for medium to thin fabrics while deep and super deep machines are better suited for thicker fabrics or fabric with lots of stretch. It's important to know what type of fabric you'll be working with before making a purchase decision since the correct machine will depend on the type of fabric being cut.
